Credit and Financial Counseling
Many nonprofit organizations provide free credit and financial counseling services to assist members of the community with managing finances. Counselors – also known as coaches - may be certified, some may specialize in specific areas, and their organizations may offer a variety of other social services. These professionals can help with budgeting, managing credit, paying off debt, preparing for homeownership, and more.
If you are having trouble with your finances, struggling with credit card debt, or want help to achieve the goal of homeownership, a financial coach may be right for you. Maybe you're considering filing for bankruptcy or getting a reverse mortgage and need assistance with required paperwork or coursework; a credit counselor can help.
FICO partners with over 200 organizations that provide credit and financial counseling or coaching. These organizations can review your credit report and FICO® Score with you, for free or a nominal fee, and discuss ways to build your credit.
